The Optovue iVue SD have replaced our previous retinal imaging instrument with the extremely high definition images and measurements of the front and back of the eye measurements are a major advantage in detecting very subtle abnormalities that could have significant visual consequences. It also allows us to much better manage conditions like glaucoma, diabetic retina problems, macular degeneration and a host of other adverse conditions that affect the retina. This extra procedure is recommended even if you feel like your eyes are healthy. Up to 11% of people have eye conditions symptoms. As Sugarloaf Eyecare, our lenses are digitally produced for maximum precision in a specialized facility. But when you have to have replacement lenses now, with our standard ground lenses you don’t have to wait for lenses, they can be ready overnight.

Our office also uses the Briot advanced Accu15 computerized lens technology to precision create lenses for you right in our office so they perfectly fit existing or new frames.

The advanced Topcon CL-200 system checks each new lens for precision and optical perfection and to be certain your prescription is spot on and you see your best.

Our technicians help you select the frame style you want and helps you find the exact frame that will make you look your very best and that will fit your lenses.

They then fit the frame to your face, checking for comfort and adjust frames to fit.

Dr. Eugene Gabianelli is a highly respected board certified ophthalmologist specializing in LASIK surgery, cataract surgery and corneal transplantation.

He began performing LASIK in 1995 as a co-investigator of the Summit Omnimed laser during initial FDA LASIK trials. He has amassed extensive LASIK experience including use of Summit, Nidek, and VISX excimer laser systems, having performed over 10,000 Lasik procedures. His bladeless Lasik experience utilizing the Intralase Femtosecond Laser is one of the most extensive in the country, and he trains other surgeons to use this technology.

He has taught courses on corneal disease and LASIK surgery to hundreds of ophthalmologists and optometrists from the United States and abroad.

Dr. Gabianelli attended Dartmouth College, earning an A.B. Degree. He graduated from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis. After medical school, he completed an internship at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago, and was named Chief Resident during his first year of his ophthalmology residency at the University of Chicago.

Following residency, he chose a surgical fellowship in cornea, refractive and cataract surgery with a private group in Hartford, CT. This group performed the first trials of laser vision surgery in the United States.

After completing his fellowship, Dr. Gabianelli moved to Atlanta, where he was named Medical Director for the Atlanta Medical Eye Center. He practiced there for seven years before founding Georgia Eye Partners. He currently performs surgery at Eye Surgery Center of Georgia, our state of the art ambulatory surgery center, as well as Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Emory Midtown Hospital and Atlanta Outpatient Surgery Center. He is the Medical Director of TLC Laser Center in Atlanta and Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology at Saint Joseph’s Hospital.
